Spring fever

As of this evening it is officially SPRING!!! We made it through another winter. Congratulations if you don’t like winter! That would include me but getting down to Waterside the couple times we did this winter instilled a desire to try to do more outside despite the winter weather. Anyway, enough of winter. Time to think of Spring which a lot of you have ,after being at the Seedy Saturday a couple weeks ago. When I think of Spring, I think of new craft projects and home decor ideas.

I was inspired by Lori at Farm Fresh Style to get in on a thrift store challenge this winter. When I go to a thrift store I am always drawn to wooden objects because they paint up so nice with milk paint.  One of the things I picked up at the Restore in Moncton was an old cutting board. Here was the loot I picked up that day for around $20. ( You may see the bunnies appear later in Spring )

Spring!

Is it really Spring? The calendar says so but it seems to take so long here for it to actually feel like spring and we are expecting more snow this week! It’s my favorite time of year though when everything is springing up new with so many vibrant colors to behold. My spirit gets renewed as well when we can get back outside and dig in the dirt, smell the blossoms and go for a walk. I also look forward to yard sales starting, to feed my need to paint and upcycle some old things. I’ve been switching out the winter decor for spring decor at home and thought you’d enjoy a few inspirational photos too. Of course I had to paint some new things as well!

I just realised most of the painted pieces were done with milk paint this time. I just love how it goes on to raw or weathered wood.

Love how this old chair turned out with a custom milk paint color thanks to Lisa at Front Porch Mercantile. I had to put one of my favorite quotes on it too. We were going to use it for my daughter’s new room because it was the perfect shade of pink she wanted but the chair doesn’t fit under her desk so I will have to find a spot for it unless someone really wants to buy it.

This photo below was taken at the cottage with a clipping from one of the old apple trees on the property.  I love all kinds of spring blossoms! Looking forward to seeing them again this year! And pussy willows! Who else loves pussy willows? I look for them every time I am out for a walk in the spring and bring some home.

To encourage more readers to my site, I would like to give away the little square Spring sign with the apple blossom branch on the chair above. So for every like, share, comment, etc, either here, on Facebook or Instagram, I will draw a name from all the entries and send it to you. I am loving sharing my ideas and other businesses on this site and appreciate you all reading as well.

I will be featuring another business next week that you will want to visit on the ” Road to Waterside”. Stay tuned! Happy Spring!
