Good evening everyone! We almost didn’t have a post for this week. I was feeling kind of down and uninspired but did have a goal to get my daughter’s room makeover documented. My sweet husband got some photos done today so here we are again on a Wednesday night with something to share with you. I really love how her room came together with some things we found- she loves succulents so we included some accessories as we found them and she found some cute hedgehog accessories that she ended up including in the room as a recurring theme also. She is in the process of doing a little cross stitch with a hedgehog which will be really cute to add to her room. It all started with just getting rid of the yellow walls and having a nice white canvas. My daughter wanted a calm, relaxing feel in her room.
If you remember some of the pieces from a previous post like her bed and side table were a creamy off white colour but now they are a beautiful white- all paint used for the furniture and signs is Annie Sloan Chalk paint that I get from Carte Blanche in Dieppe. They have a new shop I think I mentioned before right across from the market.
The pink is a custom colour of 2 parts Old White and 1 part Antoinette. This dresser has been around since my son was born- I just keep painting the front panels and changing the hardware 🙂 ,that we got from Kent. The laundry basket, hedgehog doorstop and clock are from Kent as well! The world map is from Carte Blanche – they carry beautiful artistic papers that also come with hanging hardware if you want. I love them for simple , affordable artwork.
We picked up the bookcase at IKEA for only $55 and the reading lamp for only $16.99. The desk is the same desk I had in my room growing up with the last paint finish still on it that my dad did years ago!! The chair was ordered online from Wayfair- on sale it was the cheapest I could find for the type of chair my daughter wanted. She wanted to be able to curl up and read. The sweet quilt was a yard sale find and matches her colours perfectly.
You can see the Love sign and shelf we cobbled together with pieces we had laying around all refreshed with some Annie Sloan chalk paint as well. And Rebecca made those curtains herself!
We then got some new bedding – duvet and duvet cover set from IKEA, pink pillow covers and pillows from IKEA which were the inspiration for the pink she chose throughout the room, and succulent pillow from HomeSense. The pink throw we found for like $6.99 at Giant Tiger! I painted a simple sign on a piece of MDF I found at the ReStore shop- a few words from a Bible verse I had dedicated to her when she was born- Psalm 139:14- fearfully and wonderfully made.
Her other wish was for some fairy lights ( you can still see her love for Tinker Bell scattered throughout the room :). We found some on Amazon and they do create such a calming, dreamlike atmosphere. I love the little hedgehog night light (also from IKEA).
Well sweet dreams folks. Thanks for reading and following along. I hope this inspired you to refresh some things in your home with just the use of paint as well! I hope to have a future post of a visit to the Lavender fields in Seafoam, NS next week and a visit to one of our local businesses on the Road to Waterside in the next couple weeks as well. My son the Computer Science student is helping me make the blog look a little nicer so hopefully you will see some nice additions in the coming weeks!
